PHA is a 2-day a week drop off program that meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am-2pm. We realize that in this economy, it is difficult to have a single income family. We also realize that many of our enrolled families are small business owners, military, or work shifts. Being able to drop off your student for even a few hours a day, in a class of like-minded students and teachers may be the option that you need to make homeschooling work for your family.
PHA now has the room for expansion. We are already offering a 3rd - 6th grade class option on Tuesdays and Thursdays this year. This class follows the Gather Round curriculum and focuses on project-based, small group learning. We would love to be able to expand this to K -2nd as well. We will let you know when this is an option.
Due to the most recent change according to the StepUp program, we are now allowed to offer a 4 day a week program. At this time, we can only offer this to 3rd - 6th grade, but we hope to open this option up to K - 2nd grade this year as well.
We are just moving into our new building at 203 W John Sims Parkway in Niceville, FL
We currently have 6 classes that are separated into the following age groups:
K ages 5-6
1st-2nd ages 7-8
3rd ages 8-9
4th-5th ages 10-11
6th-8th ages 12 -15
Each of our certified teachers create a curriculum that includes the following subjects: Reading, Writing, English, Science, Social Studies, History and Math. Our teachers then discuss with our students what they are interested in learning about and will create a curriculum and learning plan based on that. We also incorporate project-based learning within the classrooms as well as small groups on Tuesday/Thursday.
Not at all! If the curriculum we are doing in class interests you, the teacher can e-mail it to participating students' parents upon request. While our teachers at PHA are AMAZING, they only get to work with your student 2 days a week for 5 hours a day. The learning at PHA should supplement what you are doing at home.
Some of our families have children in Okaloosa County schools so we choose to follow the Okaloosa County School District calendar. We start on the same first day of school, have Federal Holidays off, Winter and Spring Breaks, and generally end the same last week of school.
We charge $300/month per student for a 2 day a week option
Yes, we do, and it is very simple to use. You should be able to find our school in the drop-down menu on the website. If you have any difficulty navigating this, please let us know and we can walk you through the process.
We were able to take the students on a few field trips last year that included the Niceville Library, Publix (for our Farming and Food lessons), local waterways, and the Gulfarium. We do have field trips being planned for the 2024-25 school year and will notify parents of dates and places so that students can participate. Most field trips will likely take place during the school day or on a Friday. If you have any ideas for field trips please feel free to e-mail us at info@prestigehomeschoolacademy.com
PHA is a great place to start! All of our teachers are certified teachers and come from both a homeschooling and conventional schooling background. Rest assured your child will thrive in this environment that is a blend of traditional school subjects, presented in a homeschool small group setting.
We are a month-to-month school so there is no year-long commitment. We do usually have a waitlist so if you decide to leave the program and do not pay to save your spot, it may go to another student.
Supporting our teachers and students is our number one priority, so keeping class sizes small is important. We start with classes of 12 students. Some exceptions may be used to accommodate families with multiple registered students.
We do not have mandatory attendance. All students are checked in and out using our Brightwheel app for safety purposes.
There is no homework. Your student's teacher might meet with you to suggest some supplemental work at home as needed but this is not the norm.
Attendance is not mandatory at PHA. You get what you put into the program. If your travel/vacation plans do not line up with the school calendar, not a big deal. That is part of homeschooling right? The one caveat to that is that you cannot expect your student's class spot to be available if you are not paying for it. We bill monthly and it is as simple as that. Some classes will have waitlists for entrance so if you decide to leave the class unpaid, your student's spot may not be available when you return.
